Youth Leadership Development Programme

This week we are focussing our blogs on the work that Stevie does to develop young people. This is to coincide with his nomination in the Institute of Directors, Director of the Year Award in the “Director Award for Youth Development” category. 

Stevie is passionate about working with young people and his nomination in these awards is indicative of that.

Stevie has recently undertaken a Leadership Development Programme for young people within Renfrewshire who are part of the Activities Agreement Programme. This is one to one sessions with the young people which focus on the leadership qualities and behaviours required for young people to be able to go out and make opportunities for themselves.

The young people are facing multiple barriers and these sessions look at giving them the tools to overcome the challenges and looks at focussing on their goals and objectives for the future.

It has been a great success so far with many young people benefiting from the service.

Stevie acting as a mentor to the young people will be invaluable to them now and for the future - I can say this from experience!

All of the candidates who have been involved in the leadership development programme are putting into action the strategies that are being put accross to them! Am really enjoying see-ing the changes in each of them and working with them on a weekly basis! Keep up the great work! K
