What Is Possible? By Stephen McDonald Day One

This morning I arrived at KDS at 7.45am. Today was a very important day for me. I was starting my journey with Stevie Kidd, a journey which will last approximately 6 months.

One of the first things I learned today was to magnify my senses and focus more. Stevie done an exercise with me and he heard 7 sounds and he asked me how many I could hear. I could only hear 4. This included a truck reversing outside and people talking. Stevie asked if I could hear Christine opening an envelope in the next room which I couldn’t hear. Stevie formed his training company by hearing an opportunity through a television on his way out on a night out, when his auditory picked something up which led him to be in Birmingham airport 3 months later saying his team saying we got that grant. We have opportunities all around us all the time, we just need to tap into them.

Stevie showed me a process called modelling and he passed on his positive energy about the journey to me. He also made me reflect on my feelings from when I first found out about the journey and from last night. My feeling from finding out about the journey was of hope and last night I was excited about this morning.

At about 9 o’clock this morning, Stevie held an SMT (Small Management Team) meeting. I learned a lot from this and this included each department’s agendas for the week ahead. They described their aims and objectives for the week, and what they were focussing on for the week ahead. This was interesting as it allowed me to see how a business like KDS is run. This also helped me to highlight the importance of communication in an organisation.

I also learned that I should never miss any opportunities and that when I do make any decisions, the right ones are made when I am in a good state.

The most vital learning I took out of today was THINK BIGGER! Stevie said that I can get my college course from this journey but he also told me to imagine myself walking past the ‘Entrepreneurial Tower’ his future vision with the words “INSPIRED BY STEPHEN MCDONALD” written on it and apart from helping myself, I can potentially help 100,000 youths who also have Aspergers Syndrome.

That’s where my priorities lie now, last night It was about me, today and after my journey with Stevie Kidd its about the thousands I will inspire..........

Sounds like it has been a fantastic day for you Stephen!! Lots of learnings and lots to think about!! When I come back from Fife you will be a very different young man from the one I met on the recruit! Keep thinking bigger and keep smiling! K

Wow - and that''s only day 1 Stephen. I''m loving the feedback and the insight into how your experiences are already changing thought processes. I especially like the entrepreneurial tower image - made me think of a lightbulb moment developing into a lighthouse; a beacon for others to show them the way. Shine on!
