Unemployment VS Under-Employment

Unemployment VS Under-Employment

Unemployment rates remain around 2.5 million in the UK. However, watching the news last night I learned there had been an increase in Under-Employment. What does this mean? Under employment is when individuals are working part time hours as they cannot get full time employment at the moment due to the economic recession, therefore they are working but are still under financial pressure to cover bills and expenses as they may have been used to full time income previously. Some people are even working two part time jobs just to try and make ends meet. Unemployment affects us all and some individuals are willing to do anything for finance. It may not even be worthwhile working one part time job as you are still facing bankruptcy because you can’t pay your bills. This goes back to people’s mindsets, some people are in the frame of mind that it doesn’t matter if they are not working full time, as long as they are working, they have a purpose for getting up in the morning. So the question is, would you rather be Unemployed or Under-employed?
