Two teenagers die in Ayrshire crash
Two teenagers have died and a third was left seriously injured after a two-car crash in Ayrshire on Tuesday night.
Police said a Vauxhall Corsa struck an on-coming Skoda Fabia on the A719 north of Maidens, near Girvan, at 2040 GMT.
The Corsa driver, Sean Rodger, 18, died at the scene. His 18-year-old passenger died in hospital. A second 18-year-old passenger was seriously injured.
The female driver of the Skoda car and two children travelling in her vehicle escaped injury.
Her female passenger sustained minor injuries.
Police said the crash happened after the Corsa, travelling south near to Jamestown Farm, had crossed the centre line of the road and struck the Fabia.
Two 18-year-old passengers from the Corsa were taken to Ayr Hospital, along with a 44-year-old woman who had been the front seat passenger in the Skoda.
Children uninjured
The 18-year old man, the front seat passenger in the Corsa, died a short time later.
The 18-year-old rear seat passenger was said to be in a "stable" condition.
The 44-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the Skoda, was detained for observation.
The 46-year-old driver of the Skoda and two girls, aged 12 and 14, who were rear seat passengers, were not injured.
Police have appealed for witnesses to the crash to contact them. A report will be prepared for the procurator fiscal.

My thoughts are with the families of all those affected by this terrible accident. Daily we see evidence that the Road safety message needs to be made stronger and continually re-inforced. K
