The youth of today!

A common phrase which we hear all too often when it comes to young people, but it is a phrase we should be saying with pride and not despair as we have discovered on the Youth Academy. We are two weeks into the Youth Academy and we are seeing some big developments and big changes in each individual! We are developing a tolerance and an understanding of other people and their opinions; we have taken an active role in working with another local organisation who need support in their fundraising, level of resources and their transport issues. We have come up with some great ideas to make these things happen and we have put these into action. We are discovering on a daily basis that we have skills and qualities that we did not realise and we have set goals to help us reach our own individual targets after we discussed and identified what we don’t like about our situation and identified what we needed to make the situation one we are happier with.

We have kick started our fitness and did fitness training with a champion boxing coach, big thank you to Bernie for that opportunity! We have worked on our diet and looked at how this affects many different parts of our life and staff and other candidates in the building have noticed the big changes in us! We have had regular input from Stevie Kidd and have found that we have taken on board the messages he is putting across and sometimes we don’t even realise that we are doing it!

Most importantly we have discovered the importance of honesty, trust and respect and understand what is to feel valued as individuals and that we are thriving on all of this! KDS Youth Academy – Working hard for a better future for ourselves and for other people!
