The Recruit and International Year of Youth

August 12th was International Youth Day marking the beginning of International Year of Youth (Aug 2010-2011) It’s theme “Dialogue and Mutual understanding” a celebration of young peoples’ energy, imagination and initiatives which will recognize their crucial contributions towards enhancing development and develop an appreciation of young people’s opinions and the importance of communication and understanding between different cultures and generations! What a year for the Recruit winners to be taking up their jobs with KDS and the other employers where they will really be leading the way in making this happen!

Young people are often given bad press and all judged as being lazy, rude and expecting everything handed to them on a plate. The Recruit event shows without a doubt that this is not the case and that Scotland has energetic, talented, creative, intelligent and vocal young people who should be guided in the right direction through training, mentoring, education and continually building on their life skills and confidence!

This will be an exciting week for those who took part in the Recruit event! The culmination of the exciting events is on Thursday night with the Finale Dinner, excitement is growing for the competitors (and the staff!) who took part!

28 young people awaiting the result!

28 shining examples of why allowing young people’s voices to be heard and opinions to be valued should be the norm and not the exception!!
