The KDS effect!
May 19 th. & May 23rd - both were very important dates on my calendar this year. Why?
May 19 th was World IBD awareness day, which raises awareness of Crohn's disease and Colitis. Both inflammatory Bowel Diseases which cause people too often to say "but you don't look ill" in a similar way as they do when they discover you have a mental health problem! I get told that a lot as I suffer from Crohn's and a mental health problem, but you wouldn't know it to see me or if you met me! Both have been hard fought battles to stabilise and get under control! But why am I telling you all this.
May 23rd was me 6mths into life at KDS 6 months re-learning that you can have a good work life balance, six months of working in a happy, positive, buzzing with energy environment, 6 months working with the most supportive team I have ever had the pleasure to work with, 6 months of constant learning AND....... 6 months with no Crohn's disease flare up, unheard of since my diagnosis, 6 months with no major medication changes, 6 months with no emergency hospital appointments, unpleasant tests, crippling stomach pain or major bowel related disasters! (Use your imagination on that point!) 6 months not sinking into the blackhole that is depression and means constantly wearing a mask that you show to the outside world. 6 months or 26 weeks or 182 days where the only reason I have spoken to the specialist IBD nurse is to tell him all is good and for him to tell me I don't need to attend a clinic as my levels are fine! Which is a big change from speaking to him every week!
So if you were not convinced the KDS experience is life changing, what do you think now!

Absolute WOW, you are one in a, whatever the highest number you can thinkof. To have Crohn''s, and have the energy you have, must take a lot out of you at some point, but you never show it, so again WOW. John
