The aftermath of the ROCCOs

Friday night was the long awaited ROCCO Award Ceremony, and it was an incredible experience which I will not forget.


The event itself was huge; there were so many people present! Something which was really uplifting to see was that I was able to recognise a number of the faces, which admittedly, somewhat surprised me considering I have only been in the business world for a couple of months, yet I could make connections with such business people.


Unfortunately, KDS were not the overall winner of Employer of the Year, however in no way did this deter me from making the most out of my night. I was pushing my confidence to the max by approaching people and introducing myself along with Lynsey, telling them about ourselves and KDS. I am pleased with how we conducted ourselves, because we didn’t let our age be a barrier to networking with everyone, and I didn’t get the impression that they felt we were too inexperienced when speaking to them.


Stevie had emphasized the importance of absorbing all the emotions which I had felt on the night, so I really concentrated on doing this. So, when I walked into the offices today, and everyone had asked how Friday went, hearing the word ROCCO made me immediately smile, and recall all these positive feelings.


Looking back on the whole process, I can see how I have developed as a person. When Andrew first asked me if I would fill out the application form, I had begun to feel very nervous, which was manifested when he told me he had no revisions to be made after he had looked over it. Now I think of how effortlessly I could speak to business people and tell them all about how I got to where I am, and what my plans for the future are.


Friday has given me another boost, and I am even more optimistic about being with KDS as a result.
