Stevie Kidd Makes a Life Changing Impact, Twice!

How many lives have you changed? Really changed. One or two?

Stevie Kidd met two of KDS Training's Retail Academy candidates this week and today I witnessed him take personal interest and invest more of his approach to changing lives away from the centre stage, away from the limelight and behind the scenes. In a matter of minutes he had totally shifted their self talk, the negative movie playing in their head about the future.

Candidate 1.

During a break from the Academy things got too much and the pressure of finance hit one of the candidates hard. She had been let down by external factors and partnerships and was worried about covering her travel fares for the following week's Academy attendance. Stevie wasn't meant to be back in the training suite at KDS and instead was supposed to have been in a conference, but he told me later that he just knew the niggling voice telling him to return to the Academy should be acted upon. He walked through the door just as the tears had errupted with this candidate. He listended to the scenario, the facts, looked into her eyes and said, "I'm all about building people up, so lets just take the pain of your travel money away right now, so you can focus on the message of today's Academy. He handed her the following week's travel money. In an instant there was a shift in emotion. What had seemed too much and a crippling fear, had turned into joy and relief. I saw her face change, eyes get brighter and posture improve all at once. But its not about money because that wasn't Stevie's message, it was about taking the pain away to focus on the future. So then he arranged for one on one mentoring sessions for this candidate, blocked out diary time for her to continue to build her up, all completely outside the Academy work he will do with the group.

Oh, and the outcome was that she had a blast today, pushed through some physical barriers and ended the day feeling relaxed, refreshed and ready for next week, less stressed.

Candidate 2.

With Stevie, its not enough to move a young man from depresive and nervous state to being able to stand infront of a group of fellow Academy candidates. Or even to challenge him to go introduce himself to a key business partner of Stevie's who this lad had never met. His confidence growing by the day, Stevie today set him a further challenge, raising the bar! On the back of Mind Over Matter day (a day of structured physical coaching), and seeing that it had had a positive effect, Stevie said, "Here's the deal. YOU complete the KDS Academy, YOU secure a job at the end.......and I'll fund ongoing training". This is not budgeted for from the KDS Academy, nor is it paid by the Academy funding partnerships.....its Stevie being Stevie. High impact, hitting the spot and shifting this guy's thought process. The outcome? One young man, mind racing,leaves Stevie's Creative Room, and playing the movie in his head of getting fitness back and taking even more control of his life in the last five days than he ever thought possible.
