Stevie Inspires Young People
Today Stevie spent some time inspiring a group of young people at the KDS offices.
His session was very well received and this is the feedback from some of the outside agencies that attended:
“Firstly I was really impressed at Stevie's ability to engage with the young people at a level they understood and in a manner that was genuine and not patronising in any way. I felt the content of his talk was spot on, particularly as he was able to convey that, like the audience, he was not an academic achiever at school and that whilst learning is important, there were other forms of learning. The message was clear that we can all learn and just need to find the means most suited to us. This is at the very heart of Curriculum for Excellence - ie lifelong learning at a place/time/style that suits the individual.
Whilst Stevie was talking I was looking round at the young people in an attempt to gauge how they were feeling and was pleased to note that they were all really interested in what he had to say. I think they sat longer at this than with most things they have been involved with and it was only towards the end that they started to get a bit fidgety.
One of the key workers reported back that the young people were 'buzzing' about the session.
Final word to say is that I wish that I'd had a Stevie Kidd in my life when I was a teenager. “
Winnie Walker, More Choices More Chances Co-ordinator.
"The presentation itself I felt was specifically targeted to the client group and I could see the message Stevie was trying to get across. I felt that by using his personal life experiences and being as honest and blunt, he was trying to put himself across an example and to encourage the young people not necessarily to follow his example, but to learn from his experiences and apply the lessons learned to their own situations."

It was really great to welcome all the young people to the KDS Group. It was clear that they had enjoyed themselves and that Stevie had postively impacted on them.

Today it was fantastic to watch Stevie in action with the young people who were in the centre, from very sceptical individuals they very quickly transformed into a group who could vocalise what they wanted to achieve in their futures! I have worked with young
people for a long time and having had time to reflect on the events of the day, I can say without a doubt that Stevie''s effect on his audience was awe inspiring! It was a pleasure to present to, and interact with, the group this morning and it was an even
bigger pleasure to watch the changes in them when Stevie worked with them and in the time that I was with them afterwards! They (and I) are very excited about the next time we work together! K
