Stevie - The Role Model
The work that Stevie does with young people often revolves around attitudes and behaviours and self awareness.
Often the young people are not aware of how their behaviour is being perceived and they go with the ‘norm’. Stevie works with them to show them that being part of a crowd isn’t always the way to go and that by making a few simple changes they can stand out from the crowd.
This was never more true than when Stevie was a business mentor on The Recruit programme.
KDS was the main sponsor for the programme which was business focussed and based on the popular TV show “Junior Apprentice”.
The young people on the programme were high achievers and had been selected by a judging panel to even take part in the programme. There were 7 jobs to be won with the top jobs being 2 positions at KDS.
The KDS task was very similar to a task you would see on “the Apprentice” and even involved the board room interrogation! Stevie was so impressed with all of the young people on the programme that he offered every single one of them a free one hour mentoring session.
These sessions varied from person to person but Stevie really challenged them on their individuality and got to the bottom of what made them unique and different from everyone else. He spoke with them about the traits required for success and about following your passion.
These sessions were greatly received and the young people learnt so much about business and about life. Stevie explained the importance of role models and after the sessions were complete we discovered that he was in fact a role model to many of the young people!
Tomorrow’s blog will cover the story of The Recruit in more detail so make sure you take a look.

I remember first hearing Stevie explaining the challenge and what was expected and immediately thinking that it seemed too difficult - but we all succeeded, proving that Stevie is pushing our boundaries so we reach our full potential.

This task was supremely organised and set up. Very few organisations or companies would have thought so creativelty about how to give the recruits the best experience. Top Marks everyone involved!

It was great to be involved with the Recruit Programme. The task at hand was very different and unique as Stevie was behind the idea and all recruit candidates enjoyed every minute of it.

The Recruits, across the board, loved the KDS/Border Business Challenge. It gave everyone an opportunity to showcase their skills and the finale was nailbiting. A big part of the reason it was so successful is down to the staff at KDS and Stevie''s hands on
approach. We were, and continue to be, made very welcome at KDS and I hope it is a partnership that will go from strength to strength.
