Stephen's Journey Begins!

On Monday 6th December Stephen will embark on his KDS journey and will complete his first day of work experience with us. Stephen was one of the young people who took part in The Recruit programme within Renfrewshire, he completed a series of tasks and also took advantage of mentoring sessions from Stevie. Upon completion of The Recruit Stephen asked if he could come into KDS to do some work experience.

Stephen has Asperger’s Syndrome and has struggled with confidence and self esteem issues, his aim is to come into KDS and to work closely with Stevie to build on these areas so that he can achieve his overall goal of starting an Accountancy course at college after the summer.

This process has been a lengthy one as we wanted to create partnerships with all of the organisations and health professionals who work with Stephen to ensure that we create a realistic and challenging programme for Stephen that supports him into a positive destination. Closure for us will be to see Stephen walk into his first day of college after the summer.

After the Recruit, Lynsey and I''s KDS experience ensures that we are still developing and maturing. I am so excited to see the same thing happen with Stephen!

I would really like to say a massive thank you to Stevie and his team for giving Stephen this fantastic opportunity . I am really looking forward to see Stephen going through this journey to positive places. There are so many special people in Stephen''s life that have been there for him but its himself whos got him to where he is now by being the fantastic person he is.Its not just Stephen who is going to take so much from this because everyone and myself included are still learning all about him and this journey will help us learn so much more. Thanks again for doing this Stevie , it means so much
