Stephen's First Day
Today we welcomed Stephen into the business for his first day of working with us. He will be with us on a day release basis from school until the summer. The objectives of his time with us will be to learn all he can about business and to gain more confidence and self esteem before he embarks on his college course.
This morning Stevie greeted him and explained the ‘basics’ of the KDS culture; that we must greet everyone with a handshake and maintain excellent levels of communication at all times.
After making Stephen feel welcome and setting the main tasks for the day Stevie went to work with his first in-depth mentoring session. There were many factors covered including Stevie pointing out that when Stephen visualised a situation he always imagined a catastrophic ending, rather than focussing on the best possible outcome he would visualise the worst – this is something that many of us do and Stevie explained how reacting like that changes our state and can lead to creating nerves and anxiety. To work on that and on all of the other factors covered Stevie used a technique known as ‘modelling’ with Stephen, some of the session can be viewed in the footage at the bottom of this blog.
As with everything that Stevie is involved in, this journey is just the first piece of a much bigger picture. Stevie has a vision of a school where many young people facing various barriers are supported into positive destinations.

Really enjoyed the day with Stephen yesterday! It was amazing to watch this happening in the creative room. The next 7 months will see a huge change.
