Stephen Soars To Greater Than Excellence!

I arrived at KDS at 7.38am because I wanted to make a good impression by being early. Stevie mentored me on attitudes and being unstoppable. Being Unstoppable is part of the journey of “Achieving the Grade above Excellence” which is the aim and goal of KDS Group. What I learned from this was “Unstoppable people don’t believe in failure. They see mistakes as opportunities to learn and develop new skills and strategies”. Stevie told me about how he aims for greater than excellence at every opportunity and he doesn’t think of failure – he knows that each failure brings him a step closer to achieving his dreams and he has put this unstoppable mentality into his team at KDS. An unstoppable team is “able to see failure as an opportunity for learning and improvement is critical to becoming unstoppable. People who can’t bear a moment of failure have doomed themselves to mediocrity for they’ll never be able to push themselves past a point that is uncomfortable or unfamiliar. Yet it is beyond that point where success dwells.”

I was supposed to be going to Arnold Clark today but that had to get cancelled because Donna, the woman who I was supposed to be shadowing had an important meeting to attend. This was another learning from me because it shows that something can appear out of nowhere in business.

After this Stevie held a focus and planning meeting with regards to winning the Institute of Director’s Director Award for Developing Young People and how he can market this. I was tasked with finding the email addresses for each of the nominees from the awards ceremony and the people Stevie made a connection with and I enjoyed this task because I was able to take responsibility for this task and also work independently.

Another task I had to do was help Lynsey with administration work which shows that I am a good team worker because I’m helping others get their tasks completed. When I returned from lunch, Lynsey asked me to call the stationery company KDS use to get a quote. I done this task very well and it was helpful because one of the things I wanted to get out of KDS was to improve my communication skills and this task shows that I am making progress with this. Sarahjane said I done this task very well and she also said I sounded very professional too. This task was really good for my confidence too!

I’ve been very busy today and I have learned a lot

my goal is always to take youth to another level within the thinking they have today, we also measure what they take out of the 40 000 thoughts each person has in a day measuring themselves against global excellence

Everyday is a learning day at KDS and it is a joy to see you take up and run with the challenges you are given.
