Stephen Prepares to Influence Other Young People

Today I arrived at KDS at 7.45 am. My main focus for today was preparing the speech which I will be giving at the launch night of “The Recruit” – the programme which helped me get this work experience with KDS.

When Stevie arrived he told me to check his Facebook page because he had put on a link to Barack Obama’s weekly address, which was focusing on youth, something Stevie is passionate about. I watched this video because there were key messages included in it, as he was talking about innovation and ensuring there is “No Child Left Behind”.

After this I helped Lorraine with a spreadsheet but I had no problem with this because I am now fully competent using spreadsheets. After this Stevie mentored me about my speech tomorrow and he helped me to make it be the best it can be so that I can influence other young people about to embark on the programme. This included making a lasting impression on people and encouraging them to listen to the messages I will be sending out. I also used prompt cards so I only need to look at one word to remind me of the point I am going to make, allowing more time for eye contact.

How far have you come in under a year Stephen, standing up and delivering to an audience of unkmown peer group. You will make an impact and as you look back on how far you''ve come personally, know that you could inspire others to set their goals and aim high. Well done buddy!

Thanks for your help today Stephen - you did a great job with the task I set you and it really helped me out. You have come such a long way and the fact you are about to stand up in front of a group of people you don''t know and give a talk on your experience of The Recruit is amazing. You will be brilliant!

Sounds like you have had another productive day Stephen. Still really amazed at how far you have come over the past few months. Keep doing what your doing - you are a star!

To think Stephen, one year ago you were in that very audience and now you are at the stage where you can share your experiences and learnings!
