Tommy is fully committed in his role of Road Safety Driver for KDS and raises awareness for Road Safety each day and reports back all feedback from his week through meetings and photographs of his journeys. read below 1 of Tommys reports.

REACTIONS TO VEHICLE:

I went along to the shop at my house and asked the man behind the counter if i could talk to him about something that may or may not raise unpleasant memories for him. I made him aware of tthe fact that i drove a road safety vehicle and told him about the message my vehicle carried, i asked him what he thought about it and if there had been such things on tthe road before what had happened to him, did he think it would have made a difference...

He replied if someone had given him talks about this or these vehicles had been around his actions may never have happened.

Finally to let you know who this man is, a few years ago he was speeding on Renfrew Road where he knocked down a mother who was crossing the road with her child in a pram, the result being the death of a child.

Well done Tommy for approaching this subject with him - I''m sure it wasn''t easy for you. It''s very diffucult to measure the effect the vans have on the general public but I think that says it all. It great to see you take great pride in driving the van and honouring Aaron''s memory. Lorraine.
