Renfrewshire Graduates celebrate the new road ahead
Today 41 candidates were recognised for the achievements on their recent academies, witnessed by employers, partners, family and friends.
Today was a landslide event as it was the first multi sector graduation ceremony. KDS brought together 4 academies making this the biggest employability event to date for KDS Training. The course of programmes were:
• Renfrewshire Construction Academy,
• Renfrewshire Care Academy,
• Non Sector Specific Academy
• 2 Youth Programmes – Future Focus and Youth Academy
The programme opened with flashback memories, powerful music and a short media clip of all participants during their academy period. Moments that had been forgotten were recalled with laughter and disbelief at how much their learning, skills and friendships had been bridged.
Each graduate was invited by their trainer to accept their certification from Andrew Craig (Director, KDS Group) and Stevie Hunter (Training Manager, KDS Training). They were kept on the spotlight whilst Tommy, Michelle, Ali and Kate shared their highlights with the audience.
Each graduate was invited to tell how their individual journey had gone, not surprisingly to the KDS team, each person had their own individual and memorable experience.
The KDS Training team were thrilled to hear so many of the graduates talk positively of their employment prospects and the jobs they had secured. All in full agreement that this group of individuals had succeeded in attaining their goals of being on the road to employment and more self recognition, self awareness and self belief.
Participation and support of the employers, partners and the KDS team were recognised by the candidates and gifts were gratefully received. Many thanks to the employers taking time out of their busy schedule to mark the occasion.
The surprise finale for the graduates was a personal message sent from Stevie Kidd (CEO KDS Group). By rule Stevie Kidd does not attend graduation events as he maintains that the stars of the day are the graduates and full spotlight should be on them, however he could not let them go without sharing the special meanings of the messages that he has threaded through their academy journey’s. Although Stevie was not there the full impact of his words could be felt around the whole room.
Stevie’s full message can be viewed at http://www.steviekidd.co.uk/insights/a-personal-message-from-stevie-kidd/
There was a tinge of emotional sadness in the room as the time the event came to a close, although the KDS door will always be open...
Watching the candidates leave, the KDS Training Team could timeline back to Day One and were elated with the change and excited for them for the road they are about to travel. The graduates went away complete and with their anchors ready to hang on their fridge doors...
