Friday for the Youth Academy was aimed at preparing for interview situations. The group were looking at what they can do before, during and after an interview to ensure they give themselves the best opportunity to make a positive and lasting impression.
The group were also paid a surprise visit from Stevie Kidd who spoke about the importance of these types of training activities to prepare young people for real life experiences. Carrying these out in the safe environment of the Academy means that the young people have the benefit of trying and testing their strategies again and again, until they are able to present themselves with confidence and conviction.
Following Stevie’s visit, the Youth Academy group took part in some role playing activities, playing the parts of both the interviewer and the job candidate. Apart from quite a lot of laughing and some Oscar-winning performances, the group had the opportunity to replay the interviews and look at lots of different aspects of a typical interview; from making your first impression to being aware of your verbal and non-verbal communication to strategies for making you stand out from the crowd.

As somebody who has been interviewing for more years then I care to remember, it never ceases to amaze me, the number of candidates who dont practice, prepare or in some case even know about the potential role. Interviews are an artificial reality designed
to keep people out and the key to sucesss is the 3 "P''s". Practice, Practice and when you''ve done that practice somemore.

We all have differently way of learning from theory, practical to technical, to even visual or auditory Just pointed this out to youth
