One Year on - Academy Still Making an Impact

On Sunday night Stevie received an email from a previous KDS Training academy graduate. The person in question had been on an academy in March 2010, had successfully gained employment in the care sector but had decided at a later date that this wasn’t the sector for him, he went on to source and secure employment as a Hospital porter.

We often talk about our training courses being unique and offering more than the sector specific skills required for the workplace. This example highlights this perfectly and it’s amazing for everyone involved with KDS and Stevie Kidd People to see that we are still making an impact on people’s lives a year after a course has finished!

Hi Stevie

Just something I would like to tell you mate, about how things have changed for me since the first time we met. As you know I was on the unemployment academy trying to get a job in care back in March 2010. On the first day I met a guy who was there as you gave your talk to the potential candidates who were sent down to Fir Park by the Jobcentre – this guy left half way through and never did go on the course.

I met him again the other day and we were talking and he asked me how I was getting on and asked if I was working.
I told him how after the course I got a job in care but decided to go back to my old job in fire protection and then how I got paid off again but then only after 2 weeks looking for work I got a job in Wishaw General Hospital as a porter ( a job I had applied for 3 times before and never even got an interview) . Also I told him that I have a second job now also, as a Combat Engineer in the TA Royal Engineers and I told him about it and how much I enjoyed it.

Well I asked him how he was getting on and his reply was
" Ahhh same old, same old am just going to sign on just now."

And so it dawned on me!! That after that course and meeting you, my attitude changed enough not only to get a job, but to get 2 jobs that I love and go after the things I want to achieve and make them happen . Only if that guy went on the course, I believe his attitude would be better and his life in general.

So thanks again Stevie, and by the way I still count steps when I go into buildings!!

ALL THE BEST !!

Great to see someone else taking the tools provided, laying sound foundations and building a new and exciting future for themselves. Having been on KDS course in 2009, I still use the methodology and principles I learned everyday in life. I''''ve recently just moved to my dream house, because I wanted it so badly. I started from scratch again after being at the lowest point in my life ever. Bankrupt, jobless, depressed and on the brink of Homelessness. I have just been promoted. I consistently perform to a better standard than any of my colleagues and have beaten sales targets time and time again. I won a trip to Florida, £400 Citizen Watch, a £450 Ipad and recently made more Gross profit in one weekend than any other salesperson in the whole of our company nationwide. Why? Because I believe that I can do anything i set my mind to. This life is not a rehearsal, it''''s for real...and we only get one chance. KDS helped me get up of the floor, find my self respect, regain my confidence, awoke a burning desire within me and gave me the tools to plan a new life for myself...and for that I will be forever grateful. Thanks to Big Stevie, Andrew and Stevie Hunter for helping me to believe in myself.

This is a fantastic to read, knowing Brian and being involved with this academy over a year ago is brilliant. Great to see Brian still so focussed through his learnings on the course and achieving everything he had set out to do.

It is always to get feedback from previous candidates and to see how they have adapted the changes into their own lives - knowingly or unknowingly!! Just goes to show the lightbulb moments happen long after the Academy finishes! K
