Never Forget Your Roots
As my business grows and more and more people learn about my successes I find that my peers are making certain assumptions and judgements about the position I hold within the organisation.
Recently I was ‘advised’ that I should no longer be delivering mentoring days on the employability academies and that I shouldn’t be updating my own facebook site. The reason given for this was that to the outside world this does not give the ‘right’ impression.
When these comments were being made I sat and listened and processed the information. I took some time and then I responded. I responded by saying that I will never give up completing these tasks and the reason for this is that it’s things like these that make me unique and different from other MD’s.
I am passionate about my business and about the people within it, I care about them and I care about how they feel when they come into work every day, I have created a culture where people are proud to say that they work for me.
The other thing about this is that I never want to forget my roots and I never want to forget what it feels like to be driver within my distribution division or a trainer within the training division. As KDS Group goes global these values are even more important and I will continue to make this a priority.
Some people wonder how I can fit everything into a day and the reason is that I magnify every minute of my day and make every single second count. I think differently from anyone else I know and I am proud of where I have come from and the journey I have taken to get to where I am today.

This is such a great summary of the way you think, Stevie. Keep doing what you do. There may come a time when you need to change your operating procedure, but you will know when that time is. More power to you!
