Mother and father killed in crash
A couple were killed and their child seriously injured in a crash on an Aberdeenshire road in icy conditions.
The man and woman, thought to be in their 30s, died in the collision, which happened on the A90 Peterhead to Fraserburgh road at 0115 GMT on Sunday.
Their child, a two-year-old girl, was taken to hospital in Aberdeen, where her condition is serious but stable.
A short time after the road reopened a car and a lorry collided. The driver of the car is in a serious condition.
In the first crash, the Vauxhall Frontera motor car left the road and overturned near Cortes.
'Poor conditions'
The couple, who have not yet been named, were believed to be from the Fraserburgh area.
The road was closed for about seven hours while accident investigators examined the scene.
At about 0940 GMT, there was a two-vehicle crash on the A90 at Philorth.
A 37-year-old man from the Fraserburgh area was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where his condition is described as serious. The lorry driver did not need hospital treatment.
Insp Ewan Innes from Grampian Police said: "Weather conditions have been very poor in the Buchan area over the weekend with many routes affected by snow.
"Clearly road and weather conditions at the time of both collisions will be taken into account during our inquiries."
