Mind Over Matter meets Jim Watt, former World Champion Boxer

Today Academy 32 (AKA Team Michelle) took part in Mind Over Matter – with a difference!!
We all agreed today was jam packed and we had all been on a rollercoaster ride in our journey. This morning the team were enthusiastic, excited and also nervous about what was in front of them. We identified team work, our leaders, our observers and our supporters in the morning and also looked at our own health in terms of water intake and how the body works.
Mind Over Matter was different today for our candidates as for the first time, our team 32 visited a local boxing gym recognised by Stevie Kidd who personally trains here. As this was our first time we didn’t know what to expect but with the confidence, motivation and passion to succeed which has been built up this week we faced this head on. We pushed ourselves to the limit, some even beyond through our circuits. We impressed ourselves with what we can achieve and the realisation hit home as we now know we can do anything when we put our mind to it.
The team were also privileged today when they met with boxing legend - World Championship Boxer – Jim Watt. The candidates received a personal talk with Jim Watt where there was a lot of questions and answering done. The team heard about his inspiration to become a boxer, along with his knockouts and defeats. From this the academy also took a photographic anchor of themselves with Jim Watt and have chosen this as their success symbol to date on the academy.
If this wasn’t enough for the team they were then honoured with a guest visit from our inspirational trainer - Ali G. Ali joined the team at the end of the day and we all evaluated our day and looked at what we would do differently this weekend. The day finished off with a motivational presentation with Stevie Kidd. The legendary boxer Jim Watt is one of Stevie Kidd’s role models therefore the end of this week was key as the team presented Stevie with an autographed boxing glove and our slogan for the week – LETS DO THIS!!!!!
It was agreed and safe to say that Jim Watt has left us with amazing words of wisdom that we can all relate to,
“It’s not about how many times you are knocked down in life, it about’s getting back up again!”
