MD shows partnership working is not a fast fading dream!

PARTNERSHIP: A relationship between individuals or groups that is characterized by mutual cooperation and responsibility, for the achievement of a specific goal!
When Eric arrived at the office today for the Work Club after being made redundant after 22 years, he was, not surprisingly, taken aback to be met and invited in by the MD who had called in to collect something. Chances are he was expecting to be told “we are shut today; you will need to come back tomorrow”. He had definitely not been expecting a personal 1:1 mentoring session with the company MD who could have been enjoying a day off and spending time with his family! Almost certainly he had not been expecting to have his mindset shifted in relation to the Job Centre-from looking at them like the enemy to recognising that they were another vital partner in helping him to secure employment. Undoubtedly he was not prepared for the messages that were put over in the session including “stop playing the victim card”, “be aware of what people hear when you speak”, “know your elevator pitch” and “stop limiting yourself by what you are choosing to believe”. Absolutely, however, Eric left the session with a new sense of purpose and direction, with many things to think about and action, and an experience he will never forget!
With budgets being cut left, right and centre more and more company MD’s are focusing all their attention on steering their company through these difficult times and less time working with other individuals or organisations to achieve their goals. It is beginning to look a lot like effective partnership working is a fast fading dream!
It is refreshing then to see that, even on a holiday Monday; Stevie is still sticking to, and promoting, his values of partnership, communication and working with individuals to support them with moving forward in life and into sustainable employment!
HOW MANY OF YOU READING THIS CAN HONESTLY SAY YOU WOULD HAVE DONE THE SAME TODAY? It is with absolute certainty that I can say the answer will be VERY FEW!

A great example of going the extra mile and setting standards higher than expectations. Partnerships and relationships are everything when making steps into employment.

In tough economic times it is only through partnerships that we are able to continue to support those who need it most to achieve their aspirations. Stevie you continue to demonstrate what an extraordinary person you are.
