London Homeless part 2
He said Crisis was a good organisation and do good think tank work. He said and they do a lot of workshops, which is a good place to meet a variety of homeless people. He said Crisis are always keen to work with people and to share information and successful case studies. They have a cafe there as well, which is staffed by homeless people, called the Skylight Cafe.
He also said Business Action on Homelessness is good.
He said the reason you wouldn't have seen so many homeless is because they're starting to move them out ahead of the Olympics. Councils are being sponsored to clean up the streets - it's even got a name.. operation poncho.
He said there was a campaign where they wake the homeless people up at 3.30am and have bowsers of water and hose them down. Apparently it's been in the news and a campaigning magazine - Pavement - has been covering it (he has no good words to say about The Big Issue!)/
Pavement magazine represents - rather interestingly - London and Scotland's homeless!
There's an article on Operation Poncho on the bottom right:

So that was it really. Paul gave me his email address so I do have contact. He said he checks email every couple of days. I dropped him a note when I got into the office.
So. I don't know if that's of any help - but I send it in case it is. And you inspired me to stop - as I was tempted to rush past, as I guess I knew it was going to cost me - but a connection with you and all we've been talking about made me stop :-)
Also I read your note this morning on facebook about stopping and talking and giving something - and I didn't consciously remember it until I saw it again when I got to work.
So never stop that facebook stuff - see what happens when you do it.
Right - sorry this is long - Im not going to read it back as I'm going to bed - so sorry if parts of it are jumbled :-)
speak soon :-))
