Livingston Retail Academy - Week 2
The First Two Weeks.........In their own words.
Looking back on the last two weeks, on day one we all were really nervous incase no one talked to each other. We did not know what to expect from the course or the trainers, but we found out that the course is amazing and we're all having a ball! Thanks to all the great trainers, Roger, Ali & Stuart, we have learned so much and its only the end of week 2! [Shari, Susan & Gemma]
Week 1
By the end of week 1 everyone was more open and more confident, we all had started mixing well. A few of the subject we'd covered included:
Introduction to Retail
Attitudes & Behaviours
Employability and transferable skills
and approaching Application Forms & CVs differenty.
The highlight of the week for most of us was meeting KDS Managing Director Stevie Kidd who took two hours out of his schedule to share his story and how he (and any of us can) turn(ed) his life around for the better. [Cheryl, Dawn & Louise]
Week 2
We enjoyed learing about First Aid & Manual Handling techniques which will benefit us within our future working environments.
We have also learned to understand ourselves better through Ali's session on Life Skills and how our attitudes and behaviours impact upon others professionally and personally. However the Interview Techniques module made us feel more confident about interviews (and a few of us have already got some newxt week!!). We understand the key is to be prepared. [John, Gary & Jamie]
Overview
The last two weeks have prepared us to go forward for job interviews, challenged us to rethink our attitudes to interviews and CV's. The Training has given us more belief and confidence to seek out new opportunities that previously we'd have let pass us by.
[Rhys, David & Mark]
Well said guys! And we're only half way there!! [Roger]
