Learning to Grasp Every Opportunity
Yesterday was a very significant day for me, in relation to making the most out of my time with KDS.
As some of you may know from our videos, when Lynsey and I were doing our presentation for the ROCCO Award application, one of the members on the panel was David Hoey, a Partner for bto Solicitors. Stevie, during his mentoring sessions, has strongly emphasized the importance of joining the dots with relationship building, and being aware of opportunities that present themselves in some way or another. Of course, aspiring to be a lawyer, I realised meeting David could potentially help me realise this goal.
On returning to the office, I obtained his details and contacted him, explaining who I am and what I intend to do with my future. David was impressed with this, and offered up his time to conduct a short yet invaluable meeting with me. Yesterday, this meeting took place. I was able to ask any questions that I had about law, and because it isn’t a subject you learn in school, any extra information I can acquire is a huge benefit to me. David told me all about his experiences to get to the admirable position which he is in, and advised me on what I can be doing at present to help me on the journey.
KDS has fully supported me during this process, I was given the chance to use office space for the meeting during working hours, which is a clear example of how Stevie has clear intentions for me to use this year to my advantage, so that it will help me long after my KDS experience is over. I will be keeping in contact with David, and am proud to say that I have used my initiative to make a very useful contact in the law industry.
