From ME to WE!!
As we start week 2 of the Academies in Stirling and Motherwell, it is apparent that the guys have now gelled as a team, they are flexible, trust one another, and wholeheartedly support every member of the group. There has been a change of thinking from ME to WE!!(You can see the photos on http://www.flickr.com/photos/kdsgroup)
So, what are the benefits of working as a team?
Better decisions- by empowering individuals to give their feedback and suggestions decisions are made by consensus – multiple input and consensus often gives a better outcome than the brightest person could have come up with alone.
Shared responsibility - establishing an environment in which all team members feel the same responsibility as the manager for team performance. There is more emphasis placed on quality and accuracy as everyone wants the team to be a success!
Goal oriented The most important thing for the team is achieving the team’s goal!
High communication - creating an ethos of trust and open, honest communication. When teams communicate information is passed up, down and sideways to make everyone’s jobs easier. People share more freely when there is an ethos of trust!
Future focused - seeing change as an opportunity for growth for individuals and for the team as a whole. Teamwork allows individuals to further develop their own skills while remaining focuses on the task and the outcome!
Better use of resources - applying individual talents and skillsets, when one member of the team lacks certain knowledge another is there to provide it!
Problem resolution - identifying and acting on possible problems, resolving them and turning them into opportunities. Team members don’t have to sort difficulties on their own – everyone pitches in to help!
It is important to remember then, that working as a TEAM really means Together Everyone Achieves More!
