Collision leaves four in hospital
Four people were taken to hospital following a three-car crash in Midlothian.
The head-on collision happened after the driver of a green Skoda skidded on ice near Nine Mile Burn on the A702 at 2140 GMT on Monday.
The car crashed into a Vauxhall Astra which was travelling in the opposite direction.
A Suzuki Swift which had also been travelling on the road then collided with the other two vehicles.
Firefighters managed to cut free two women, aged 36 and 65, from the Skoda. They sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The man who had been driving the Skoda and one of the other drivers were described as being "walking wounded".
Motorists have been warned to take extra care in the roads, with ice affecting many routes on Tuesday morning.
