First Time for Everything!!!!

Once again Radio Two and Chris Evans’ morning show have provided me with today’s blogging topic!

Those of you who listen to the weekday morning show will have worked out that there are a whole list of regular interactive slots for the listeners to get involved in Chris Evans’ breakfast show.

One of these listener moments is where children on the school-run call in to the show to tell Chris and the other listeners “For the first time ever, I am………”. It could be going camping, riding a horse, going on an aeroplane abroad – you get the idea. What makes it engaging and a light hearted moment is that perhaps this reminds us of being that excited as a child at doing something new. It reminds us of that emotion of looking forward to something so much that it becomes the most exciting thing in our world at that moment in time, ever ever!

So when does that stop? My challenge is this: Why should that feeling ever stop? As adults have we become the “boring” grown ups that we used to criticise as kids?

So why not look at your world through a child’s eyes and allow yourself this weekend to get excited about doing something for the first time. Something different, something new. Do something for the first time, experience the excitement again!

Roger, I couldn''''t agree more! Who wants to be a stuffy, boring adult? I completed a course in Laughter Yoga Leader Training last year and the experience has revitalised my outlook on life. The technique combines deep breathing yogic exercises with a serious of laughter exercises combining acting and visualisation techniques with childlike playfulness. I learned ''''donkey laughter'''', '''' Calcutta laughter'''', ''''aloha laughter'''' and many more. The process allows adults to break down their inhibitions and achieve hearty unconditional laughter without cognitive thought. It''''s not just great fun it also has physiological benefits and it''''s great for connecting people! It''''s a no brainer!!
