Fantastic day at FedEx
Today I arrived at KDS at about 7.40 am. This was quite surprising as I slept in and never woke up until 6.55 am. When Stevie arrived at 7.55 am he said I was to print off notes I had typed up at home because they were handwritten and weren’t of the standard Stevie expects from me. It took me longer than expected because there were problems with printing.
After this, Stevie took me downstairs as there was a new ISEP course which is a Non-Sector Specific training course. We shook everyone’s hand and introduced ourselves. Stevie told me to tell everyone a bit about myself and I found this a lot easier because my confidence has grown considerably since my journey started and I was not fazed by doing this. Stevie then told everyone about his history which was inspiring and he told me he went to find work with an organisation after knocking on the door of the manager for 32 days. From hearing about this, I learned you have got to be persistent in what you want to achieve and not let anything hold you back.
I researched FedEx once Stevie motivated and inspired the training course so I can leave a good impression on FedEx as first impressions are important. Stevie Hunter took me to FedEx and when I arrived I had to sign in and then Kevin introduced himself to me. Kevin took me on a tour of the building and I got to see all the different departments and the warehouse which was interesting as I got to see how the different departments work. After this I interviewed Kevin and asked him questions such as what motivated him and what his values and beliefs were. He also told me about how he plans ahead and visualises the future. Kevin told me his strategy for success which was “Someone who is successful is someone who has a good work/social life balance”. Kevin told me he is happy with his life and he analyzes all aspects of his life. He told me that he always looks to develop the positive aspects of his life and he is motivated by working in a team and working with people. This was really fascinating as Stevie Kidd shares these values and beliefs.
After this, Kevin took me downstairs and he showed me how he communicates with the drivers and he explained how they have got to meet deadlines because they want to aim for being the best which is what KDS do. I have learned a lot from today and Kevin gave me some FedEx products including a calendar. This has been another fantastic day for me so thanks to Stevie Kidd and Kevin Grant for helping me to make this happen!
