Educating the Nation!
This week in the UK is National Childhood Obesity Week. Levels of childhood obesity have tripled in the last 30 years. In children aged 6 to 11 years it has increased from 6.5% in 1980 to 19.6% in 2008. The rates of obesity among young people aged 12 to 19 years increased from 5.0% to 18.1%. A staggering statistic which shows the importance of leading by example to improve the future health of the nation!
We often hear the blame being cast onto the parents of these children and hear how parental behavioural patterns concerning shopping, cooking, eating, exercise and body image have an important influence on a child's development. BUT how many of us are actually equipped with the knowledge to change these things?
KDS Academies cover the benefits of regular exercise, correct nutrition, a healthy lifestyle, positive mindset, goal setting, focus and self- confidence and we have seen as candidates take in the information and make adjustments in their life that it has a positive effect on their children.
Perhaps we shouldn’t blame the parents, but educate the nation!
