Edinburgh 8: Change your words, change your world!
The final in this run of 2 week Positive Transition Academies commenced in Edinburgh this week with ten candidates who are keen to prove that they are more than they are currently living! After the initial apprehension they have settled quickly to form a close team who value each other’s opinions and are all helping each other in their quest to become more confident, motivated and to secure employment!
We have had some powerful moments as candidates have realised that the judgements and limitations they place on themselves are not the views held by other people and they have been moved to discover that they are not always communicating to the world what they think they are!
An impromptu visit from Stevie Kidd had them all thinking differently by the time he left and the mindsets, goals, job search and future direction have all become much more focused as a result! A major theme throughout this week has been communication and today this was re-enforced by Stevie in his messages about changing your words to change your outlook and change your world. They enjoyed the session so much they have invited him back!! (and they were still talking about him when they left for the day!)
Already they are laying the foundations for the future, with several interested in the new KDS Works courses that have also been running in the centre and working with Robb to make this transition happen, others are looking into college courses for new career options, the job applications are being completed and handed in!
This Academy have been on a great journey during the first week and are all looking forward to what week two will bring!
