Eagle or Chicken?

Today saw the start of KDS’s new Future Focus Academy. A six week Academy, for young people aged 16-17 who are on the Activities Agreement programme, which runs for 2 days per week. Today saw Stevie Kidd deliver a motivational session to start us off as we mean to continue! Stevie used a new delivery strategy today which worked very well with the young people involved!

Chicken or Eagle??? Telling the story of the eagle who had been brought up by a family of chickens after he had fallen from the nest and how he behaved as a chicken until he saw an eagle and aspired to be “the king of the sky” as the eagles were thought. Some wise words of wisdom “It’s the heart of an eagle that matters, not the way he lived” encouraged him to follow the eagle and soar to reach new heights. His friends who were chickens were trying to hold him back and keep him from achieving what he knew he could.

Believing in yourself, making your own way in the world and having the courage to stand up to the negative voices that try to hold you back were big themes of today! “I have never looked at it that way” said one young person “I am going to be an eagle” he decided.

So this group has decided they are going to be eagles. What will you choose?

A very inspirational story - sounds like the Youth Academy is off to a great start. I think I agree with the group and I am going to be an eagle also!
