Completing My First Tender

There are days which I have spent with KDS that I look back on and remember how nervous I had been. There are others where I have been really excited, and some where I’ve felt very apprehensive about something. Yesterday, however, I experienced all of above emotions, along with feeling under pressure and anxious and sometimes panicky.

The reason for this is because I was submitting my first completed tender for the company, I remember being excited when I was told about the nature of this contract, as I have always claimed that I thrive on a challenge, this was my chance to prove myself: my first experience of tendering independently would be for a major contract.

The process was very in-depth and lengthy, more than I had expected admittedly. I learned a substantial amount of information on the backbone of the company, through research and by having various meetings with almost all members of the team. Deadlines are essential during the tendering process, and I was constantly learning how to manage my time and prioritize my tasks in order to have everything completed on time. It was nerve-wracking to say the least when the deadline approached and something unexpected came up, however the KDS group are experts at adapting to change, and we were able to overcome this easily. One of the best parts I think was when I had a checklist up upon the wall on a whiteboard, and we had everything ticked off and ready well before the final deadline.

We successfully completed and sent an impressive bid on time yesterday which I regard as a huge achievement and something which I will look back on. Being very meticulous, I do think there were things I could have done differently however evaluating my work means that I can improve next time. Ultimately, I enjoyed having complete ownership of this task and working under pressure, and I am very grateful to work alongside a team who were always more than willing to offer guidance when I needed it.
