NLP Techniques - Timeline
Timeline is a way of displaying a list of events in chronological order. It is a way of exploring challenges and opportunities from different perspectives of time.
It can be easier to come up with a plan to meet a challenge or opportunity from a perspective in the future when it has already been solved. It can be easier to resolve an issue which happened in the past from the perspective of going back to that time.
In business, timelines are incredibly important as different scenarios must be planned for in advance to ensure operations will run as smoothly as possible.
At Stevie Kidd People, we very much believe that “Failure to plan is planning to fail!” Timelines help us to plan for the future and make us more aware of the timescales involved – at present, tomorrow, next week, next month, next year or in 5 years!
It is also important to set goals for yourself and this can be achieved using timelines. Visualise your goal - when do you expect to achieve this? How long do you have to make this happen?
Visualising your goal on a timeline will help you to imagine the feeling when you achieve it and the milestones on your journey to get there and in turn, gathering useful experience and learning; bringing it all back and integrating it into the present day.
We all ultimately learn from our experiences in the past, enabling us to make changes for the future. By using timelines, we can visualise these experiences and map them onto our lifelong timeline - separating the significant experiences that will stay with us forever, to those we have learned from and left behind us.
“In my own timeline I have now conditioned my mind to focus on a 80/20 split on my timeline, 80 being focus on tomorrow’s agenda and 20 on today’s, my mistakes from the past float beside me unconsciously and when we reach a map reference of a previous timeline it comes to my focus so I never make same mistake again.” – Stevie Kidd

Great Feedback for ILA Works Courses
Since the launch of our innovative ILA Works courses we are delighted that we have supported approx 420 people through our employability short courses. ILA Scotland is a Scottish Government scheme that helps you to pay for learning. The learning can be done at a time, place, pace and in a way that suits you. It’s for people who have an income of £22,000 a year or less, or who are on benefits. If you are 16 or over and living in Scotland, you could get up to £200 towards the cost of learning with a learner account from ILA Scotland.
These courses are taking candidates several steps nearer employment! An opportunity to refresh their interview skills, provide them with an up to date CV and various sector specific skills has led to numerous people successfully back into employment and has led to some great feedback, and to us being awarded course of the month by ILA, we wanted to take this opportunity to share that feeback with you!
“I would like to say how much I enjoyed the course run by your staff at Triage last week and that during my career I have attended many courses but none run in such a friendly, competent, professional manner. Staff were fantastic in their ability to relate to individuals from all walks of life and to make this an educating, entertaining and fun course to attend.”
“It's a REALLY great experience training with KDS”
“ I will always remember the stuff that I learned at the retail course”
“I was on your CSCS course in August I liked the lot, you’re helping a lot of people”
“I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed the course and how the staff were fantastic at the delivery of the course, I just received my certificates today and will be spreading the word about the course to everyone I can.”
Some great feedback for some great courses!

Sterling Stuff from Stirling Academy
Stirling Care Academy came to a conclusion on Friday afternoon. Tremendously successfully academy for both KDS Training and the candidates. Our goal is to find full time sustainable employment and that is what we have done. The challenge is the scepticism from candidates and telling them on day one that although 4 weeks is a short period of time and the aim is to secure employment by the end of the 4 weeks - the reward is seeing the belief in the candidate’s eyes when this is achieved.
The outcomes for this academy were outstanding with 70% of candidates achieving permanent contracts with the other 30% pending. Our candidates made a huge impression on Meallmore Care – they were highly impressed by KDS candidate’s preparation for interview, knowledge of the sector and enthusiasm towards working in the care sector. KDS are grateful to local employers who visited and took time to share their stories and knowledge on the care sector with the academy.
Strangers came together on this training course on day one... by day 20 lifelong friends had been made and over the duration of the academy many experiences and emotions were shared. Life strategies were formed after the visit from Managing Director, Stevie Kidd who left them with the knowledge that life is in their hands and they have the power to make choices however from now on their choices will be positive choices...
The trainers are grateful to the candidates because it them who make this academy experience happen...

Stuart's Thoughts on Week 2
Another fantastic week. Learnt lots of new stuff compliments of Ali & Tommy which set me up for my highlight of the week which was my first formal training session in over 5 years. First Aid with the Construction group & H&S with the Cleaning group on Thursday. Bounced out of bed on Thursday morning and said "Great...it`s starting" Arrived in Renfrew at 7.45am to get set up early, waited till 8.20am before I could get into the office...best laid plans and all that.
It was a pleasure to see the very positive attitude of both groups, they clearly wanted to learn and gain something from the session and applied themselves 100%. Both groups left the training room with a sense of achievement, which why we do what we do.
Overall a marvelous week. It`s been a pleasure & privledge for me to train such dedicated young people and to work with a tremendous team, trainers and admin staff alike.
Thank you.

The New Kid on the Block
My name is Stuart Smith, the new kid on the block at KDS Training. The purpose of this is just to give everyone a snapshot of my first week and my overall impression.
Pitched up on Monday bright eyed and bushy tailed (in the wrong dress code) ready for an assault on my senses and sanity. Again...wrong!!! Everyone made me feel most welcome, probably pitying me for they knew what was to come. Ali Gilbert was given the task of taking me under her wing where we both travelled to Edinburgh to deliver Manual Handling and Life Enhancement skills over a 3 day period. Although I arrived feeling a bit nervous Ali`s professionalism, teaching manner and approach quickly put me at ease as her style is similar to my own and I found the 3 days very rewarding in many ways.
Friday AM...The day of my first chat with Stevie Kidd (See start of the above paragraph) He certainly knows what he wants in life and what he wants from his team which is what I have to buy into. I`m sure that with help, advice and guidance from all in the team I will rise to the challenge set by Stevie. As for everyone in the office; I will make time to get to know you all and I look forward to working with you all in order to make KDS Training even more effective and successful. Friday PM was spent in preparation for ILA next week which I`ve got to say was a bit of a blur...I will try to remember what I did today over the W/E and let you know what happened because I`ve hit that “wall”. Brilliant week, busy week...Long may they last.
