Campaign to cut child road deaths in Kent
Kent Police plans to visit the areas near 40 schools, which have a high casualty rate, to promote road safety.
The force said it would crack down on motorists breaking the law, offer advice and address local concerns during the month -long campaign.
It said 87 children were killed or seriously hurt on the roads in 2008.
Acting Ch Insp Preston Chalk said: "Each year many young people aged between five and 15 years old are killed or seriously injured on the roads because they are not wearing seatbelts, or are hit by motorists that are speeding or using hand-held mobile phones or driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
"Kent Police is working with partner agencies to raise awareness about road safety with young people and drivers, and deal with those caught taking risks through enforcement action and education."
