Positive Transitions, Edinburgh.

Today saw the last day of a two week motivational Academy that KDS Training delivered in partnership with A4E.

We call this a “Positive Transitions” Academy, and for good reason. The journey that the candidates all go on is one of self discovery. We train them on Life Coaching, Attitudes & Behaviours, Interview Skills and perhaps the biggest theme throughout the course......... TAKING CONTROL & TAKING RESPONSIBILITY. #

Today the 9 candidates graduated and recognition given to each person in turn for the changes they had made.

An indication to the scale and scope of the transitions is evident in James who today shared his story of why he’d not attended the whole of the final day of the Academy. He took control and responsibility of his own life scenario and agreed that he had “settled” into a rut of claiming benefits. Yesterday, he changed his strategy and his future, by spotting an opportunity and seizing it! Simply walking onto a building site which had a sign up for help required, he made an impact and was given a job on the spot after he had confidently told them of his experience and work ethic despite him previously being mainly a Chef within Hospitality.

Delighted and satisfied, he celebrated with a quiet pint in a local pub, and once again, now even more open to opportunity, he overheard some employer pain. The Pub managers complained to another member of staff, “The Chef has walked out”.

Taking action is a key part of the Positive Transitions Academy, and this candidate did just that. “I’m a Chef”. The employer offered him a trial shift on the spot after hearing of his experience. So within the space of one hour he’d landed two opportunities having previously spent months without employment.

Positive Transitions??? You better believe it!!

Absolutely amazing! One of the messages I have taken from this blog is about increasing your awareness of opportunities as they present themselves, combined with another lesson I have learned through my own experience with KDS. Be instant - act now. Congratulations James - what an example. And well done Roger, having seen you in action, I know where these guys get the belief from.
