Another day Another Employer

Again today another employer visit for the Renfrewshire Care Academy who were privileged to meet with Karen Armstrong the Clinical Services Manager of a local care home.

This took place this morning alongside a special guest, Angela, a previous academy candidate who is currently working for this care home.

The candidates were given a great insight into residential care and different opportunities along with what to expect when working in this sector. Angela also shared her academy experience and journey through to employment. Angela had been unemployed for 28 years prior to coming on the academy and being placed on a work placement within this care home. After impressing the care home manager she was offered a position and is still successfully working away, loving life and loving her role as a care assistant. Between yesterday and today the candidates have been given a lot of insight into the care sector from the two different streams of care offered and are now more focussed in which paths to take.

Thank you to both Karen and Angela for coming in and sharing their knowledge and experiences with us, once again the reality is vital for our potential candidates going forward into the care sector.
