Another Amazing Day Changing Lives

At KDS and Stevie Kidd People we work with people to help them to change their lives every day.

We take the work that we do very seriously but because we are surrounded by it sometimes it can be easy for the impact to be lost. However, this morning we were all reminded that we work in an amazing environment and the changes we make to people’s lives are colossal.

We talk about KDS and about Stevie being “unique” and “innovative” and about the holistic approach that we take. If anyone needed any proof of that then they got it in bucket loads this morning!

There is a young person from the Activities Agreement on our Youth Training Academy who is facing specific challenges with accommodation. There has been a problem which has culminated in him receiving accommodation but no support for living costs. This young person is in hardship which is of course a major challenge and barrier to him achieving all that he is capable of.

Stevie was made aware of his situation and decided to offer a sponsorship package which would provide this young person with food and electricity. This will involve the young person being given and electricity card and sitting down at our offices and ordering his food online.

Not only is Stevie making a very generous offer but he is also teaching this young person a number of invaluable life skills including; the importance of eating healthily, cooking with fresh ingredients, how to budget for a week’s shopping and the benefits of good nutrition and fitness.

When presenting this opportunity to the young person Stevie asked the whole team to get involved to create “an anchor” for the moment. This is a tool used to make the moment unforgettable! We all gathered in a circle in the training room and the young person was asked to stand in the middle, Kate Sutherland, KDS Trainer made the announcement and then asked for a piece of music to be played. As the music began we all started to clap and cheer and we carried on doing so for a number of minutes. The emotion was clear on the young person’s face and some of the KDS team even shed a tear (or two!)

Another amazing day at KDS and Stevie Kidd People!

Another amazing story involving Stevie Kidd/KDS and Youth. This justifies why Stevie got the Director of the Year for Youth Development Award. Also, well done to the young man for taking control and aiming for the positive destination!
