An Opportunity of a Lifetime for our Recruits
Two weeks ago a group of 16 to 18 year olds arrived at our KDS offices in Paisley unaware of what they were about to embark on. Little did they know that this challenge could potentially change their thinking, career direction and attitude? For the Recruits, this challenge raised the bar for performance and expectation and the journey over the next 2 days simply brought out the best in them!
There was no nurturing, pandering to whims. This was a task, a challenge that could potentially change the direction of one, two, five, ten........................ all of their futures! The game was on! Right from the off, recruits watched in awe of Stevie and listened attentively to his every word. They were captured! We set off to Border biscuits to encourage ingenuity, creativity and uniqueness! This is where the challenge would begin. The 2 days that followed, brought competition between all of the teams, and a desire and passion to do well that may have lacked in some previous tasks. The Recruits were hooked! Strategies, game plans, were auctioned, but who had the best? ........ that was soon to prevail!
Recruit mentors Darren and Carole were amazed at how engaged and energised the recruits had become throughout the whole of this task. KDS mentors were very supportive of their Teams and gave them an abundance of moral support throughout.
Judgement day had arrived and you could sense the tension and fear in the air........ there was going to be crumbs everywhere! Excitement built and you could see the desire and passion from each of the teams, all wanting to get through to the last 2 teams in the Board Room........ but who had the edge????? Well Team Doxa of course! Not to take anything away from the other Teams who all performed well, but Doxa prevailed as worthy winner to the KDS challenge!
A proposal was put to all Recruits and what an offer it was! Stevie is giving one hour of his time to each Recruit for mentoring, if they choose to accept it, and it was free!
Accept it they did, recruits were signed up for mentoring sessions over the next 3 weeks and Stevie’s mentoring began. Some recruits were back 2 even three times! The difference from Recruitment Day One until now was apparent! Confidence, walking tall, direction, career, focus, attitude......these being just some of the transformations that were oozing from our Recruits! They were literally spinning on a high after their mentoring and indeed had lots to take in. Stevie had certainly worked his magic..... Recruits were on a high and it did not end here! Stevie invited some back for some training at our next Academy starting on the 23rd August!
Watch this space to find out who and how many from the Recruit will succeed in gaining employment across a variety of sectors in Renfrewshire, this is so exciting and staff at KDS are thrilled to be a part of this! What is next?????.......................................................................
