Academy 21, The Magnificent Seven

This is the magnificent 7 from Academy 21 in sunny Alloa. We just wanted to update you on our progress as we have reached an important part of our journey!It has been a roller coaster of a journey up till now. It started on day 1 with the introductions and meeting new people. Everyone was nervous and excited, not knowing what lay ahead. After meeting everyone we learned more about each other and have become friends, and a team. When we were introduced to Kate and Jim we soon felt at ease in their presence, learned lots about the KDS way, Stevie Kidd, the training and how they treat staff and visitors. We have opened our minds with the help of inspirational music, different quotes, we have looked at our Johari window to find out more about ourself and learned who we are. Along this amazing journey we have all remembered the skills that we have and developed these as well as learning new ones. we are now more focused, motivated and know what we want in life and we don't back down from challenges. We have laughed, cried and been angry, people with tempers have learned to control them and feeling have been brought to the surface and dealt with which has made everyone more happy. If it wasn't for Kate, Jim, the KDS staff and their method of training we wouldn't enjoy the course everyday we come here. We have also learned to have self-belief, and how far you can go when you pull together as a team. We have all grown in confidence and are much stronger as individuals and have more energy towards life now that we know the importance of what we eat, water, how we think, using the strategies we have learned to keep us positive and focused. We have learned so much about working in care that at times we thought our heads would burst- The importance of being a Care Worker, First Aid, Mental Capacity, Infection control, Health and Safety and two employer visits! (and that was just the first two weeks!) Today is the initial day of interviews, we will use all that we learned about finding a job and how to interview well! Some of us are a little bit nervous, excited and we are looking forward to the experience with excitement and new found confidence. We have interviews all this week and are still applying for jobs!
