Aberdeen: The best way forward is always through!
It is not only the weather that has been sunny this week in Aberdeen, but also the candidates on the first Positive Transitions Academy who have had a very different week than they would normally have had! The smiles, laughter, sense of being a team, ability to see a positive future and feelings of pride and progress have all grown as this first week has progressed!
On what has been a rollercoaster of change and enjoyment for the candidates we have gained an understanding of who we are, where we want to go, what has been holding us back, what we have to offer an employer (an eye-opening session for all four candidates!) and have all realised that what we have been through is exactly what means we have the strength, experience and skills to take us to the places that we want to go in our lives!
We are looking at work experience and employment in a whole new light and can see this as an actual part of our future and not as part of a goal for our future that would never be achievable! When we listed the steps and changes we had made to our thinking, lifestyles, personal life, daily routine and amount of new things that we had tried in the first 5 days of this course we realised that we were well on the way to this situation!
Having lived our life’s with the motto “The best way forward is always through” to get us through the difficult health, emotional and family situations we had all been in we now understand that the same strategies and skill sets (and motto!!) are what will make us a success in the workplace!
Using all of this learning, week two and all weeks in the future will see these candidates reach new highs and always choose the best way forward!

Kate really great to hear how the north of Scotland got the sunshine in more ways than 1 this week, I''m sure the sun will be shining for the candidates in their future.
