A Life Saving New Skill for Ryan

As the school holidays start I’m sure that there is a similar conversation being had in many houses across the country – “What are we going to do for a fortnight?!”

Stevie’s son Ryan has taken up a number of new skills recently, including drumming! On Sunday night Stevie asked Ryan “So what’s next?” Ryan shrugged his shoulders and said “I’m not sure”.

Stevie said “Well how about learning another new skill – first aid?” to which Ryan replied “Brilliant!”

So on Monday Ryan joined the group being trained in first aid by KDS Trainer, Alison Gilbert. Ryan was particularly keen to join in as he knew that Stephen McDonald was being trained also. Ryan will be coming back in to participate in this day again soon as Mark McKirdy will be coming in to be trained.

The day went really well and Ryan, aged 12 is now an accredited first aider! I wonder how many other first years will be going back to school after the holidays having learned such a valuable new skill.

Theres not many people (if any) in 6th year who have this qualification but for someone in 1st year that is a brilliant achievement. Well done
