Day 10, Michelle's View!

Academy 23, day 10! The Lesson Plan went out of the window today. The real training was about to begin and little did I know how much of an impact this was about to have on me! We had an important visitor today with us - the main man Mark McKirdy. He turned our world upside down today with his inspiration and energy. He took charge of the training and gave us all a kick in so many different ways. We spoke about success symbols today and this topic uncovered a range of emotions from being literally high to low. This is not a negative experience as this feeling of low was about a situation that occurred in the past. The person sharing their story was releasing feelings that had been bubbling inside her for many years, and had never been released until today. She left today feeling relieved. This was like nothing I have ever experienced. A group of people who in only 2 weeks can share their story without being judged. Where else does this happen on a training course? The Academy is truly unique and I am proud to represent an organisation that strives to develop every individual we come into contact with. Academy 23 rocked today! Thank you to Mark and all the candidates for making this the best day I have had working for KDS!

Day 10 as a KDS Trainer

What a day! what a week!!! It has been a phenomenol week for Academy 23 and am amazed by how the group have bonded. They are not only a team but have became firm friends.

Today we had some amazing success stories that show the strength of each individual in the group...and the rest of the group helped them recognise and celebrate these successes!! Today we had an inspirational person joining us - Mark Mckirdy! He was amazing and had the group energised to the hilt!!!!! There was laughter, clapping, tears and joy - which he instigated!

A clear sign that mixed academies are definately the way ahead!

First Time for Everything!!!!

Once again Radio Two and Chris Evans’ morning show have provided me with today’s blogging topic!

Those of you who listen to the weekday morning show will have worked out that there are a whole list of regular interactive slots for the listeners to get involved in Chris Evans’ breakfast show.

One of these listener moments is where children on the school-run call in to the show to tell Chris and the other listeners “For the first time ever, I am………”. It could be going camping, riding a horse, going on an aeroplane abroad – you get the idea. What makes it engaging and a light hearted moment is that perhaps this reminds us of being that excited as a child at doing something new. It reminds us of that emotion of looking forward to something so much that it becomes the most exciting thing in our world at that moment in time, ever ever!

So when does that stop? My challenge is this: Why should that feeling ever stop? As adults have we become the “boring” grown ups that we used to criticise as kids?

So why not look at your world through a child’s eyes and allow yourself this weekend to get excited about doing something for the first time. Something different, something new. Do something for the first time, experience the excitement again!

Academy 23 - Day 9

Day 9, Academy 23 - Life Coaching. What a great day! There were highs and lows, as to be expected with this topic, but what a ride we went on today. For me I equate this to a gym class such as ‘spinning’. On the bike you go on a journey. You start of on the flat building a steady pace, now there is a hill climb and you gear yourself up for that, then a steep hill and you have to get up from the saddle through the pain then a hill descent at speed before you come back to a flat surface and challenge yourself at great speed! You feel amazing after it! This is what it was like today, we reviewed ourselves and there were challenges along the way, but once we established how to overcome and make small differences we felt amazing! Bright eyes, warm smiles and cheery faces, I now expect nothing less from Academy 23!

I am going to meet the fabulous Mark McKirdy and I know he will love being a part of Academy 23. Bring on tomorrow!
